ARCH Centre – The Orange Lodge Building

ghhstop

In 2009 the Green’s Harbour Heritage Society was formed when the Orange Lodge building was going up for sale. Realizing the danger the building was in, the GHHS was formed and through a series of events, we finally owned the building … with no money owed to anyone…. we replaced the roof and surveyed, deeded and registered the land.

Since then we have had the Star of the East window rebuilt and Mike Patterson of Patterson’s Woodworking in Upper Amherst Cove is working on the eight arched windows. Our next step will be foundation work and the shingles on the walls.

Keep your eye out as the building changes and watch here for the details.

All of this work has been possible through donations and fundraisers, so if you have a great idea or would like to donate…. let us know. Visit the Donations tab at the top to see the long list of people just like you who have helped make this work possible.

You can support our efforts by donating through etransfer to info@ghhsnl.com or by mailing to PO Box 295, Green’s Harbour, NL, A0B 1X0

PROGRESS:

In July 2018, we have started work on the building. Southcott Award winner Andrew Pretty of Dildo volunteered to help us get our building looking great, and with some help from friends and family, we have made progress on the front of the building. The sides will be next.
